Whether it is extra assistance with your homework or finding a fitness center for exercising after class, Our staff and teachers are ready to help!

Academic Services

Student Visa

Students enrolling in a minimum 24-lesson per week course are eligible to receive an I-20 form and may apply for a student visa at any United States visa office. Before the I-20 form is issued by us, the following must be received:

  • Your completed and signed application form
  • The application fee
  • Financial documentation per INS rules.

(All documents not originally in English must be accompanied by an English translation.)

When the proper documentation, fees, and application form have been received, the I-20 form will be sent.

Student Orientation and Placement

On your first day of class you should arrive between 8:30 and 9:00 AM. At this time, you will be tested for placement and will have a personal interview with the Director of Courses. You will then be placed in the appropriate level for each skill area. After completing the placement process, you will be ready to begin class by 11:00 AM. On especially popular start dates, General English students are given a complimentary tour of the city after the placement procedure, and they then begin class on Tuesday morning. An orientation for new students is held during the first week of classes.

STUDY HALL WITH FREE TUTORING

At our school teachers provide students with additional academic help, free of charge, during designated study hall hours. The study hall is a special room furnished with reference books and extra study materials. AGE students can bring their homework or questions and receive the focused attention of our highly qualified instructors.

COLLEGE COUNSELING AND CONDITIONAL ACCEPTANCE

AGE is pleased to offer individual college counseling services to all AGE students interested in continuing their education at an American college or university. We have has established a growing network of colleges and university throughout the United States including:

INSTITUTIONAL TOEFL AND TOEIC TESTS

AGE Los Angeles and AGE Boston are Official IELTS Test Centers. AGE can help arrange testing at a nearby location for the TOEFL, IELTS and other standardized tests.

CAMBRIDGE EXAMS TESTING SITE

All our Locations are official testing sites for the University of Cambridge examination series, including the First Certificate of English (FCE) and the Certificate of Advanced English (CAE).

CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION

After completing your course at AGE with satisfactory attendance and performance, you will be granted a Certificate of Completion which states the course you participated in, the duration of the course, and the level you attained.

General Services

AIRPORT TRANSFER

If you wish, you can be met at the airport by an AGE representative (holding a sign with your name printed on it). The AGE representative will also assist you with your luggage and escort you safely to your dormitory, apartment, residence, hotel or host family.

HEALTH INSURANCE

We recommend that you secure insurance in your home country before coming to the U.S. We can, however, help you to obtain short-term health insurance for the duration of your stay at AGE. This insurance covers both emergency treatment and routine medical care, but it is only available for students who are over 18 years of age.

ACTIVITIES AND EXCURSIONS

Each AGE center publishes a monthly excursion calendar, which you will receive on your first day of classes. Afternoon activities include tours, sporting events, student sports games, movies, and other attractions. Every week, trips and weekend excursions to various points of interest are planned, so you will never lack for fun and exciting things to do outside of class.

COMPUTER LAB / INTERNET ACCESS

Both schools offer wireless computer labs for student use. Available before and after classes, as well as during lunch break, the lab provides free internet access and email for all AGE students.

FITNESS AND RECREATION

Special arrangements with nearby fitness centers in Los Angeles, Boston, and Santa Barbara allow AGE students to enjoy short-term memberships at discounted rates. These facilities are up-to-date in every way and are excellent places to maintain your preferred level of physical fitness.

COURIER SERVICE

If a request for the I-20 is received less than four weeks before the course start date, the I-20 will be sent to you by courier. This service, which costs $75, helps ensure that you will receive your I-20 in time to begin your journey to the United States.
