Academic Year and Semester

The Academic Semester Program is offered to students who study for 12, 16, or 20 weeks. They can begin their Academic Semester Program any Monday. Students in the Academic Semester Program may select either the Intensive Course with 30 lessons per week or Semi-Intensive Plus Course with 24 lessons per week, and may include a TOEFL, IELTS, or Cambridge Preparation Course in their program. Students looking for supplemental lessons can add optional one-on-one English classes.

• Level requirements: Beginner to proficient
• Course options: Any combination of Semi-Intensive Plus, Intensive, Cambridge Preparation, IELTS Preparation or TOEFL Preparation courses
• Class size: Average 9-10 students. Maximum 12 students (14 during July and August only)
• Number of lessons (per week): 24 or 30 lessons
• Lesson duration: 50 minutes
• Age: Minimum of 16 years old. No maximum age requirement
• Start dates: Every Monday, vacations permitted per AGE’s vacation policy, Academic Semester – 12 weeks, 16 weeks or 20 weeks, Academic Year – 24 weeks, 36 weeks or 48 weeks

Students will receive special academic services.

• Possibility to incorporate Cambridge, IELTS, and/or TOEFL Preparation courses
• Opportunity to participate in academic skills elective class (intermediate level and above)
• Regularly scheduled meetings with an AGE academic advisor
• Opportunity to build a personalized academic pathways manual, which includes learning objectives, writing and work samples, language skill assessments and study journal that tracks student’s progress throughout their course.
• Optional one-on-one lessons tailored to meet student learning needs and goals.
• Free academic tutoring sessions.
• Students may divide their studies between any of our three locations – Los Angeles, Boston and/or Santa Barbara.
